Meet the Houghton Regis Team
Jigsaw's original hub, situated in Houghton Regis has established a fantastic reputation for supporting vulnerable pupils. Staff at the hub show both commitment and determination in building a supportive relationship with the pupils which in turn, goes on to provide them with the security to take risks with their learning.
Often the children who attend the Centre have experienced considerable adversity and challenge. Staff at the Centre look to build on the pupils strengths, helping them to reconnect with their learning and increase their engagement.
Time at the Centre is personalised to the children there and each has a bespoke learning journey; this is about helping learners to reconnect with their curious self and helping them to channel their energy and re adjust. It's often an opportunity for pupils to learn about themselves, to explore what has blocked them from experiencing success as a learner and to re adjust accordingly.
We have high expectations for every child that attends the Centre and in partnership with parents, teachers, other professionals as well as the children themselves we seek to unlock their potential and build a happier and brighter future.
We believe that learning must be more student-centred—that is, it must be built on a foundation of strong relationships, responsive to basic needs, driven by student interests, respectful of their identities, adaptive to their academic needs, relevant to their lives beyond school, and not confined within school days and walls.
Partnership with parents...
If we are to plan and keep the children's needs at the heart of what we do it will be essential to work in absolute partnership with the parents and carers. Children do not exist in a vacuum and it is therefore critical to ensure that the pupil's journey is also one shared with their parents/carers at Jigsaw.
